Local 1359 Contract Update #3
(May, 2007)

The first bargaining session between the Local and the employer on a successor agreement to the one which expired on April 1, 2007, occurred on Thursday, April 26, 2007. (It is noted that all other state bargaining units commenced negotiations with the employer within this general time frame as well.)

At that time, the union presented a comprehensive list of demands to the state to be included in a new contract. The Local's negotiating committee has worked diligently to date to achieve a beneficial new agreement on behalf of all members and is prepared to work as rapidly as we can with the employer to achieve a mutually satisfactory successor collective bargaining agreement.

Our next bargaining session is scheduled to occur on May 16, 2007.

Updates on the status of negotiations will be periodically provided to all members as relevant information becomes available. The Local 1359 Negotiating Team consists of President Ralph F. Carbone, Vice President Dennis Ifill, Treasurer Darryl Adams, Secretary Charmaine Hardaway and Mushtaq Ali. From District Counsel 37 are negotiator Michele Trester, legal counsel Alan Brown and benefits expert Willie Chang.
