Local 1359 Contract Update #2
(April, 2007)

On March 16, 2007, Governor Eliot Spitzer named Gary Johnson as the new head of the Governor's Office of Employee Relations (GOER). He had been Associate Counsel for the New York State United Teachers union.

Earlier this month the Local and GOER agreed to commence negotiations on a successor collective bargaining agreement to the one which expired on April 1, 2007. The first bargaining session has been scheduled for Thursday, April 26, 2007.

The Local is fully prepared to proceed on said date and to work diligently to achieve a beneficial new agreement on behalf of all members.

The Local 1359 Negotiating Team consists of President Ralph F. Carbone, Vice President Dennis Ifill, Treasurer Darryl Adams, Secretary Charmaine Hardaway and Mushtaq Ali. From District Counsel 37 are negotiator Michele Trester, legal counsel Alan Brown and benefits expert Willie Chang.
